Lunar Visions
1 January 2007 14:20So, it's 2007.
And look what a glorious New Year's gift Nightwish gave us!
If that's not going to be the greatest album they have ever made, I will eat my hat.
Or something.
All in all a pretty promising way to start a new year, don't you think?
And in addition to that one, there will also be at least a new album from Moonsorrow, entitled Viides Luku: Hävitetty (Chapter Five: Ravaged) with a somewhat thought-provoking theme according to what Ville Sorvali said in Inferno, as well as a new Finntroll album, Ur Jordens Djup, which apparently is also a theme album about the origin of trolls (and with lyrics by good ol' Katla and one song actually written by Tundra and Somnium!). Exciting, huh?
Viides Luku will already be out in two weeks if memory serves, and Ur Jordens Djup in April. Then there's February with FME and everything. Next month actually, whoa.
And come May we will be given the first taste from the new NW album, and hear what the new lass will sound like (which is undoubtedly awesome).
And on May 25th it's the international premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which I hope is also the premiere date in Finland. *crosses fingers and toes*
September, then, will see the release of that aforementioned masterpiece which may or may not have somewhat *ahem* lunar theme. *grin* (And if they're going to release it on the 7th, I swear I'm going to die of laughter. Almost at least. :p)
Doesn't sound too bad, aye?
So let's hope this will be a good and important year to everyone with only minor setbacks.
May you all find your paths in this life, I hope I will too. *smiles*

Date: 1 Jan 2007 14:32 (UTC)On the other hand, my overly sensitive mood today may have something to do with last night's partying. It is now officially proved that metal can be danced and a dance floor suits a heavy metal bar (there's a new place here in Helsinki: Inferno).

Date: 1 Jan 2007 15:05 (UTC)I agree about the true journey of Nightwish only beginning this year. And even if they never made a single album again after this one, I believe this will be the one they will be remembered for.
I hope you had good time last night. Like I said in the previous entry, I pretty much slept the night away, no wild partying for me. I wish, though, that there was a decent metal bar in Turku too. We only have the "trendy" Thunder & Lightning side of Forte and the half-legendary, musty and cramped watering hole Whisky Bar. Shame, that.

Date: 1 Jan 2007 18:46 (UTC)I rarely celebrate New Year, or any holidays, but nowadays I have such a great gang here in Helsinki, that I kinda look forward to it. It is a shame if you don't have any decent (or more propably undecent) metal bar there, but I believe there'll soon be. Propably the next Inferno will be opened in Turku?

Date: 1 Jan 2007 15:05 (UTC)Damn that orchestral part sounds good. I first thought they were playing something off LOTR. And that song with the boy sopranos, really can't wait to hear that one.
Yeah for Tuomas wearing sleeveless shirts *giggles*

Date: 1 Jan 2007 15:09 (UTC)That's what I thouhgt too at first, like: "No way that can be from the new album! They're kidding us, right? O_O"
I'm so proud of them, in your face, you disbelievers! :D
And I still love your icon. *giggle*

Date: 8 Jan 2007 06:57 (UTC)I have lately had really mixed emotions about the new NW album. Of course I cannot wait to hear it, all the small bits and pieces we have heard so far have sounded great, sometimes I can even feel the positive excitement in the pit of my stomach, but I have also started to dread these enormous expectations can never be lived up to. I believe it has something to do with these drastic changes in the band. I mean of course she is going to an awesome singer and a special person, and it is not that I did not have all the confidence in the guys' decisions and Tuomas' songwriting skills, but you cannot force your feelings and what if I just cannot feel the magic of NW music anymore?I have a bad habit of clinging to the past, living in it, feeling sad about all the things that will never be the same again. Sorry, I know you are not my therapist and this may sound weird or irrelevant, but have you had any doubts, not really the band or the fortcoming album, but about yourself?
By the way, what do you think of celtic metal; Primordial etc.?
Maybe we could also add to your list the release of new Harry Potter film, and if we get really lucky, even the new book?
And well, Nightwish have already tackled the solar eclipse, so...:)

Date: 10 Jan 2007 02:17 (UTC)Though, I don't know... I'm not really feeling the new movie like that. I mean, I usually have some intuitive hunch, or a gut feeling if you will, about upcoming movies etc. and that feeling will affect very much if I will go see the movie.
For example, I just knew I'd love the first PotC and the LotR even though there was all the possibility in the world that they would suck. And on the other hand I was hesitant about The Two Towers and it turned out I didn't like it as much as the other two. Same with the third X-Men movie.
Anyways... Yeah, I do have doubts occasionally. I second-guess myself all the time.
About the new NW album I'm very confident though, maybe because Tuomas is, but it's another of those gut feelings I guess.
I also have a strong feeling that this year will be a year of changes, even moreso than the previous one. Letting go of the past is not easy, I guess, but it's necessary sometimes. But maybe it's just my obsession with Fate speaking. *chuckle*
Celtic metal? I've heard of Primordial but never really listened to them.
Crúachan I've heard. They're quite okay, though nothing really special.
