Mr. Rossio, Mr. Elliott. I do believe you have some explaining to do.
And it'd better be a bloody damn good explanation.

I mean, honestly. WTF, mate? That is NOT a way to end the PotC trilogy.
IF (yeah, I still hope beyond hope that this is all some crazy ruse and the bloody book was written based on some early and unfinished version of the script) it really does end like that, those guys are SO screwed. No, not because I'm gonna go kick their asses or something, but because I believe there will be a huge, collective "What the FUCK was that?!? reaction to the ending around the globe which will surely have a major effect on the popularity of the film. And it will definetely not be a good one.
Really. They can't be doing this. They just can't. It's sexist and it's depressing and it compromises the very character of Elizabeth, makes Jack just a poor silly fool in love and the whelp a MAJOR jerk (as if I didn't think he's a possessive jerk already).

I don't get it. I really don't. No matter how hard I try, I just can't understand WHY? Terry keeps mentioning how great ending Casablanca has, but this is even more depressing. If they wanted to make Jack a tragic character, they certainly succeeded.

Let's see...

JACK: "Okay, Lizzie. So, first you had me so vexed for a whole bloody year I couldn't even make me compass work properly to save me bloody life. Then you made me die for you and come back from the dead for you to save everyone's sorry asses, including yours and your whelp of a fiancées, multiple times even.
Now, I forgive you for all that because I just love you so much. Will you please stay with me and be my Pirate Queen?"

LIZZIE: "Hmm, nah. I'll pass. It wouldn't work between us anyway. Instead, I'm going to throw away all my dreams of freedom and hang out at your dad's place with my miraculously conceived whelp lovechild for 10 years, waiting faithfully for my creepy undead whelp of a husband (who isn't tecnically even legally my husband because a) Barbossa isn't the real captain of the Black Pearl b) wedding ceremonies performed by sea captains aren't technically legal anyway) to return while teaching my kid to sing A Pirate's Life For Me."

Seriously. WTF?!? O_o
All shipping aside, that ending definetely doesn't kick ass. It sucks ass.
I'm praying SO hard that if that indeed is the ending, there will be some redeeming aspect during the last minutes of the movie (because they left out what happens to Jack from the book, which is weird). He'd better at least get the Pearl back from whoever it was who stole it again and not be left sailing to the sunset with a leaky dinghy and a bottle of rum.
Because hello, this is the goddamn Captain Jack Sparrow we're talking about. One of the most beloved movie characters in the course of history. NO ONE wants to see him end up like that!
No matter how cool sea battles or CGI or cinematography the film has, I really don't believe people are going to buy that ending. I hear Disney didn't have anything to say about the story, but this is worse than any Disney ending ever and practically opposite to everything Ted and Terry have written so far. It just doesn't make any sense!

Maybe I'm just in huge denial but I refuse to believe that is the ending before I see it with my own two eyes.
It's also somewhat suspicious that while everyone who has seen the film so far has had to swear secrecy about the plot and especially about the ending, a book containing the assumed ending is published even before the Disneyland premiere. Very weird, don't you think?
Why can't it be Wednesday already?

*lets out a deep breath*

Anyways, it was so good to see people again.
Tommi invited me to join their Cthulhu campaign, which is nice because it gives me a chance to see pretty much everyone at least once a week, especially now that Kahi's Forgotten Realms campaign seems to be dead (which is a great pity in a way because the Realms are like my imaginary homeworld and I'm really fond of my Calimshite wind sorceress Ishra. Ah well, at least I can make her & co. kick ass in Icewind Dale II.)
We also made some plans about my character and she turned out to be pretty cool, I think.
She's a young Anglo-French heiress named Elizabeth de Somethingepicinfrench. But you can call her Bess, she's cool like that. She's also a bit revolutionary for a young aristocratic lady in the '20s, sporting short curls and wearing trousers and waistcoats and stuff like that. But I guess no one is very surprised as she's my character after all. *chuckle*
Also, Tommi and Venla are just too cute. It was really heartwarming to watch those two, they're so good together. :)

Meh. Better go and try to get some sleep now.

Well, the Disneyland premiere was last night (and even those who were there aren't apparently allowed to reveal anything O_o) but yes, it's supposed to open worldwide on 25th (well, 23rd in here and some other countries).

Nah, we very rarely get anything this early. For example the first PotC came here two months late and the second at least two weeks.
And well, I'm pretty much dreading to see the film more than anticipating it...

Ahem... I never read any spoilers, I don't usually care enough, but after reading what you wrote - WTF??? My reaction possibly for different reasons than yours, since I gather you're a Jack/Elizabeth shipper and want them to end up together, whereas I hate Keira/Elizabeth with every fibre of my soul and could never imagine that someone like Jack Sparrow would actually fall for some twat that she is.
I will keep myself posted through your LJ before actually going to see the film - if, indeed, there's some sort of a romance going on between them in the third film i will NOT go see it. Even my eternal love for Jack will not be enough to drag me into the theatre, the very sight of him canoodling with that... thing... would make me regurgitate all over the nice velvet seats.

That's all I wanted to say... *shuffles off*
